Cube - First Person Shooter - FPS

CUBE.

The single-player gameplay in Cube is similar to games like Doom and Quake.
As of the August 29, 2005 release, there are 37 SP (SinglePlayer) maps and 65 DM (DeathMatch) maps, for a total of 112 maps all together.
Multiplayer is very fast paced and almost lag free thanks to its unique networked game code (called ENet) that uses a thick client/thin server model.

Single player gameplay
Single Player gameplay includes two types:
A plain single-player mode (mode -1), which is a lot like Doom, in that items and monsters do not respawn, and have a fixed position; and a deathmatch-style mode (where there is usually a fixed number of monsters, 10 per skill level) and items respawn.

Multiplayer gameplay
Multiplayer gameplay includes 15 modes:
Free For All: (mode 0), often used for prewar and setting up teams.
Cooperative Edit: Players can edit a map with others in real time. (mode 1)
Free For All: non-teamplay, meant for ffa and duel games (mode 2)
Free For All: Teamplay, only allied with those whose team variable is the same as yours.
Instagib: All players spawn with full rifle ammo and 1 health. No items are available. (mode 4, non-teamplay ; mode 5, teamplay)
Effciency: all players have 2 ammo packs each with 256 health (mode 6, non-teamplay ; mode 7, teamplay)
Insta Arena: when the player is fragged (killed), he/she stays dead until there's only one player remaining, and then a new round begins; each player only has the rifle and fist;
Tatics Arena: Like Insta Arena, but each player randomly gets two out of the four possible weapons (with fist), and two ammo packs each.

Typing 't' followed by '/mode ' when the next game begins changes the mode. The command '/map ' can be used to call a vote.

Tremulous - First Person Shooter - Free FPS.

Has or Is anyone Playing Tremulous?

Tremulous is a free, open source game that blends a team based FPS with elements of an RTS.

Players can choose from 2 unique races, aliens and humans. Players on both teams are able to build working structures in-game like an RTS. These structures provide many functions, the most important being spawning. The designated builders must ensure there are spawn structures or other players will not be able to rejoin the game after death. Other structures provide, among other functions, automated base defense and healing functions.

Player advancement is different depending on which team you are on. As a human, players are rewarded with credits for each alien kill. These credits may be used to purchase new weapons and upgrades from the "Armoury". The alien team advances quite differently. Upon killing a human foe, the alien is able to evolve into a new class. The more kills gained the more powerful the classes available.

The overall objective behind Tremulous is to eliminate the opposing team. This is achieved by not only killing the opposing players but also removing their ability to respawn by destroying their spawn structures.

Feature List
Flexible particle system - 99% of the in-game visual effects are configured using particle scripts.
16 buildable structures with in-game functions.
Play as several alien classes with unique abilities.
Customize your setup as a human and buy new weapons, armour and items.
Scale the walls and ceilings as an alien waiting for an unsuspecting human.
Realistic physics and motion - no bunny hopping or quick back peddling.
Flexible map system - animated mapobjects, triggering, light flares, etc.
Large weapons system - don't like the weapon you have? Sell it and buy a different one, dozens of options.

The tjw Mod
Tony J. White (tjw), a key developer of the ETPub mod for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, has developed a mod for Tremulous that adds an ETPub-like administration protocol (!kick, !mute) using a unique GUID key and also adds console features. Tony is also the developer of the unofficial Mac version of the game.
