"With Nintendo DS Lite, dual screens and touch-screen technology allow you to interact with games like never before. Wireless communication allows you to experience real-time multiplayer gameplay, and the free Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service allows you to compete against players from around the globe." - Nintendo.com

Dual Screens

Two attractive bright LCD screens offer a nice alternative to the larger gaming systems, one of the best hand held systems ever created. Each 3-inch screen can reproduce a true 3D view, featuring an impressive 3D rendering that can surpass images displayed on the Nintendo 64.

Review Snippets.

"On either side of the top screen are the speakers. Let me tell you, the sound on the DS totally blew me away. It has a virtual surround sound mode that sounds better than my PC. Maximum volume level through the speakers is not super loud (parents will be happy for that!), but I think it is loud enough for all but the noisiest environments." - The-Gadgeteer.com

"Two beautiful screens (the bottom one is touch-sensitive) and stereo simulated surround sound give the Nintendo DS the most immersive portable gaming experience around. Built-in wireless connectivity so you can play against or communicate with friends." - PCmag.com

"If the GBA was the Super NES in mobile form then this is a portable N64. A few hours spent with Super Mario 64 DS will tell you that the ARM9 and ARM7 CPUs are perfectly capable of doing anything you would have seen on the N64's custom hardware, and there are times when the bundled demo version of Metroid Prime: Hunters has you suspecting that it might have the potential to surpass it." - TheRegister.co.uk

Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire in their Colorado high school in 1999, before this Eric had used his gaming talents (some say lack of) to pave the way in Doom's history books, there are many stories floating around - like the "He made Doom levels similar to the Columbine School lay out to practice".

Eric and Dylan created levels for the computer game Doom. An urban legend spread that these levels were designed to look like the halls of the high school, populated with representations of Harris's classmates and teachers, and that Harris "practiced" for Columbine by playing these levels over and over. In actuality, while Harris did design Doom levels (an activity not uncommon for fans of the game), there is no evidence that they were actually intended to be simulations of Columbine. Some of the Harris level packs have simple graphical modifications that 'enhance' the violent content of the game; generous supplies of monsters, ammunition, and weapons are some of the other features of the levels created by Eric Harris. Eric Harris and Dylan

Eric David Harris (April 9, 1981 – April 20, 1999) and Dylan Bennet Klebold (September 11, 1981 – April 20, 1999) were the high school seniors who committed the Columbine High School massacre. They killed 13 people and injured 24 others. Both Harris, 18 years old, and Klebold, 17, committed suicide after the killings.

Below we take a look at some of the websites and doom related material that Eric left behind after his death.

Below is a WAD (dowload package for Doom) that made it into the "The Top 10 Infamous WADs" at Doomworld :

UAC Labs - Eric Harris

Eric Harris Doom WAD

No point in beating around the bush: Eric Harris made some Doom WADs, and then he killed people. One of the Doom community's greatest trials was in April 1999, when Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire in their Colorado high school and created a new culture of fear and paranoia. After it was discovered that the pair played Doom, many avid Doomers found their computer gaming habits placed under scrutiny. The WAD itself, Harris' most elaborate, is unremarkable except for a few now-chilling features. The monsters have brand-new death graphics, doused in added blood and gore. And the text file's admonition of "KILL 'EM AAAAALLLL!!!!!," which would normally be nothing more than adolescent juvenilia, carry a certain premonitory weight. (Ling)

Snopes.com has good report on the events surrounding Doom and the Urban Legends.

Link : Snopes Madman of Doom Report

"Harris created customized Doom scenarios, adding his own graphics and sounds, and posted them on the Web page for other players to download and use. Before the page was removed by America Online on Wednesday, The Courant downloaded copies of some of the files."

They included a scenario, called "Deathmatching in Bricks!," in which Harris boasted of adding bloody graphics and thanked his "good friend Dylan Klebold for helping me play-test this." Harris described the scene:

"You are placed in a large, open arena to fight in. There are multiple stair cases and lots of ammo laying around. There are 4 other sections to this level to fight in: a computer lab, a darkened and lightened tunnel with crevices to hide in (hint, hint), and a cave-like room with a river 'o' sludge flowing through. And don't worry about getting cornered — there are plenty places to run and hide if you are in trouble!"

The game scenarios, four in all, appear to have been posted on the Web site in 1996 and 1997.

Below Article Pieces are from : http://acolumbinesite.com/eric.html

To quote The Denver Post Online's profile that ran: Eric Harris was a killer, certainly cold-blooded, probably deranged. But to simply boil an 18-year-old high school senior down to a soulless, Nazi-loving monster is too easy, too clean. It misses the point: If most kids have two sides, Harris had 10 - some charming, some spiteful, one lethal.

During his freshman year, Eric met Tiffany Typher in German class and took her to the homecoming. It was their only date and when she refused to go out with him again, Eric staged a fake 'suicide', sprawling on the ground with fake blood splashed all over him. He later wrote in her yearbook (and Nate Dykeman's): "Ich bin Gott" - "I am God".

Eric and Dylan hooked up their computers on a network to play Doom together online though it was Eric who had the stronger web presence. Eric's (aka REB, Rebel, Rebdoomer, Rebdomine and probably more) webpages have gotten much media hype but from what I've been able to scrounge, all this hype is the typical media nonsense.

Dementium The Ward on Nintendo DS

Dementium: The Ward, the Nintendo DS survival horror FPS that made waves at E3 this year, has entered the manufacturing process, publisher GameCock announced today. The M-rated game will be released by this Halloween, October 31.

I got to check out some of the final version of Dementium this afternoon when the game's art director Gregg Hargrove came by to show it off. Hargrove is one of only nine people who worked on the game, but it positively drips polish. And blood.

The game has been cleaned up a lot from the E3 version. The first, most striking change is that the flashlight, which you get very early on in the game, now feels a lot more realistic. At E3, the flashlight was just a static cone of light in the middle of the screen that turned rigidly when you looked around. But now, when you turn left and right, your character leads a little bit with the flashlight, so it really looks like his wrist is in motion, and you can see the changing effect of the light source coming out of it -- which is really very impressive for Nintendo DS.

I got to check out the rest of the game's weapons, which you can see most of in the screen above right. L-R, there's the flashlight, nightstick, handgun, shotgun, electric buzzsaw, machine gun, and pistol. The final weapon is a sniper rifle. Of these, the electric buzzsaw (it's apparently actually a bone saw salvaged from a long-dead-possibly-zombified surgeon) is easily the most awesome. It's also very powerful -- and optional. You can only get it if you solve a complicated puzzle.

That's what intrigues me the most about Dementium, the fact that it's got puzzles alongside the zombie-shooting. Much like in Phantom Hourglass, you'll use an onscreen notebook to jot down clues -- numbers and phrases scribbled in blood on the walls, which of course is how all buildings keep records of their security codes.

Dementium definitely isn't going to be easy -- the designers put me into a couple of boss battles, one against a guy in a wheelchair with a chain gun for an arm and one against a bunch of mouths on the wall that vomited leeches, and I died against both of them. It then boots you back to the start of the chapter, so there's a lot of risk inherent in taking on these bosses. And there are no health refills! This seems pretty hardcore.

But there's likely to be a lot of reward for your persistence. The game's cinema scenes (with the requisite creepy little girl -- what is it about those things) are very nicely done, and the environments just exude a level of quality I'm not really used to from third-party DS games. Dementium has an uphill battle ahead of it. Can you imagine releasing an M-rated FPS on the Nintendo DS? But it looks like it'll be worth it.
